Swiss luxury watch brand HUBLOT and the fashionable band (Depeche Mode) jointly released the new Big Bang Soul Depeche Mode watch to pay tribute to the British band’s latest album, “Memento Mori,” and the global tour of the same name. The “Memento Mori” album celebrates the attitude of living in the present and reflects on the precious meaning of time. The skull pattern on the new watch is embellished with hourglass elements, vividly interpreting this concept.
Since their first collaboration in 2010, Hublot and Hipster have worked together to raise public awareness of and funds for various environmental and humanitarian causes. The partnership has continued with the British band’s subsequent tours. So far, the two parties have raised more than US$2.3 million for the Teenage Cancer Trust and the non-profit organization Charity Water.
In March 2023, the hipster band officially announced its strong return with its 15th studio album, “Memento Mori,” and will hold a global tour of the same name. Currently, Hublot maintains a friendly cooperative relationship with this band, which has sold over 100 million records. The band jointly raises funds for the global Conservation Collective to help increase the visibility of the charity organization.
Against this background, Hublot and the hipster band again joined hands to release a new limited edition watch in Berlin: the Big Bang Soul Depeche Mode watch. It is worth mentioning that the two parties held their first cooperation conference in this charming city 11 years ago. The iconic barrel-shaped case of this Big Bang Soul series watch complements Hublot’s classic all-black design aesthetic. The new watch, co-designed by Hublot and the hipster band, combines a skull pattern (an element that appeared in the band’s video announcing their comeback) with an hourglass element that symbolizes the passage of time. The dial’s center is covered with small black ceramic balls that can roll back and forth as the wearer’s wrist moves, subtly conveying the “Memento Mori” concept. This Latin phrase means “remember that you will die” and is intended to evoke the brevity of life. The 6 o’clock position of the dial is decorated with the acronym “DM” of the British band’s name, and the hour markers and black ceramic bezel are decorated with pyramid-shaped studs. Swiss made replicas watches.
The barrel-shaped case of the new watch is made of micro-bead blasting and polished black ceramic, has a diameter of 42 mm, and is equipped with a HUB1710_SD automatic winding movement, which can provide a 50-hour power reserve. Each Big Bang Soul Depeche Mode watch has two straps, which can be quickly and conveniently replaced through Hublot’s patented “One Click” quick strap replacement system. Among them, the first strap is made of recycled materials and Velcro nylon, which is an ideal fit for the plastic pollution initiative of the global environmental charity organization Conservation Collective. The second model is a black rubber strap with a black titanium folding clasp. It also incorporates pyramid-shaped stud elements on the bezel and dial, creating a charming “rock” style.
The new watch is a limited collection of 100 pieces. Each watch has a special gift box and a surprise gift: a 10-inch “Wagging Tongue” vinyl single record. This record is specially created for the new watch packaging and is carefully crafted from recycled PVC material!
“The ‘Memento Mori’ concept reminds us to value the brevity and preciousness of life more. This reverence for life has prompted us to work together again with the trustworthy Hublot watch. Through cooperation, we can not only raise public attention to environmental issues, but you can also strongly support the charity organization Conservation Collective and contribute to protecting the earth and all kinds of living things on this planet.”—Martin Gore (Martin Gore), Hipster band member. “For the past 14 years, Hublot has been working closely with hipster bands to work together to protect humans and our environment. The ‘Memento Mori’ concept makes us realize that time is fleeting. As a watchmaking brand, we are naturally aware of this. There is a profound understanding of this point. Although this is a serious issue, the music of hipster bands inspires us to face the passage of time with energy and joy.” – Ricardo Guadalupe Hublot, CEO
“We are delighted and grateful to have received funding from Hublot and Hipster. We are currently accelerating environmental restoration work in more regions around the world. The Conservation Collective now includes 20 local foundations. The Foundation is committed to helping grassroots organizations in their respective regions drive cascading positive change. The new funding from Hublot and Hipster will inject transformative impetus into these efforts.” – Ben Goldsmith Goldsmith CONSERVATION COLLECTIVE.
Global charity organization CONSERVATION COLLECTIVE
Conservation Collective, a global charity organization, was founded by Ben Goldsmith in 2020. It aims to open up new channels for raising charitable funds, promote the implementation of local environmental protection initiatives, and expand their positive impact. Environmental philanthropy faces two main challenges: convincing people to invest money in today’s most pressing issues and channeling those funds into optimistic and practical ecological initiatives. For these two challenges, Conservation Collective has proven and successful solutions. We created our Donor Club to protect their cherished places and create new funding channels for restoring nature. We have observed that people have an innate connection with “place,” when it comes to environmental protection and charity, we are more inclined to protect the lands we know and love deeply. We create, nurture, and support local ecological foundations. Conservation Collective’s Foundation creates new funding channels for the best and most influential grassroots projects dedicated to protecting, preserving, and restoring diverse terrestrial and underwater ecosystems to mitigate the effects of climate change and actively adapt to the consequences. Challenge. We are actively promoting the development of more and more effective environmental charity projects. As the Foundation continues to grow its membership, we have successfully raised millions of pounds to support significant ecological initiatives. However, this is just the beginning of our efforts, and we will continue to contribute more to environmental protection.
